Prende spunto dall’operazione antimafia “Scrigno” che ha portato all’arresto, tra gli altri, dell’ex deputato regionale Paolo Ruggirello ed al coinvolgimento di altri esponenti politici per dire chiaramente che la decisione di allargare il Pd all’ex movimento “Articolo 4” è stato un fallimento su tutta la linea. “Il partito, negli ultimi tempi – scrive Pellegrino -, ha commesso alcuni errori gravi di valutazione circa l’allargamento del consenso elettorale”. Ricorda che l’adesione degli esponenti di “Articolo 4” – il loro leader locale era Ruggirello – è stata portata avanti a livello nazionale e regionale “scavalcando la federazione trapanese” che già nel 2015 aveva preso posizione con un documento della direzione provinciale, approvato all’unanimità, che poneva il problema “Articolo 4-Ruggirello”. Pellegrino però aggiunge e sottolinea che in quella fase, “il Pd trapanese, purtroppo, non è stato conseguenziale a quanto dichiarato e non si è battuto fino in fondo o non ha avuto la forza politica per evitare tale adesione”. Pellegrino non ha dubbi: “la questione morale comincia con la composizione delle liste”, perchè rimarca che l’operazione “Scrigno” ha registrato un cambiamento importante. Non sono i mafiosi ad avvicinare i politici ma i politici a farsi sotto. Di conseguenza la selezione della classe dirigente diventa fondamentale. Ecco perchè Pellegrino ritiene che il Pd in Sicilia debba azzerare tutto, rifare il tesseramento ed i congressi nei circoli, nelle federazioni ed anche a livello regionale. Tabula rasa per un nuovo inizio che sia capace di riportare però il Pd alle origini, con due priorità, la lotta alla mafia – Pellegrino ricorda che il Pd è il partito erede di Pio La Torre e di Salvatore Carnevale – e la selezione di una dirigenza al di sopra di ogni sospetto. Ecco perchè chiede ai dirigenti regionali di smetterla di litigare e di adeguarsi al nuovo corso che è nato con le primarie e con l’elezione di Nicola Zingaretti al vertice del partito.
